Rei Yokoi

Rei Yokoi (born March 20, 1987) is a Japanese singer-songwriter. She has learned various genres of singing such as musicals, classical, jazz, and pop, and each component makes her singing unique and rich. Her music and lyrics resonate with and encourage people. From 2008 to 2016, she has actively held concerts mainly in Tokyo, and went on a total of 3 national tours in Japan. In the mean time, she has released 6 albums and 4 singles in total. Since 2019, she has been living in Vancouver, Canada, and has since been holding regular triumphant performances in Tokyo.


Growing up in an environment where music was always around her. From an early age, she loved singing, playing musical instruments, and dancing.
At age 13, she dreamed of being on stage in a musical after seeing the musical The Lion King in London, UK. At age 17, she decided to pursue a career in music.

In 2005, she entered one of the biggest musical theatre companies in Japan, Shiki Theatre Company, and learned the basics of stage singing, dancing, and acting.
In 2008, Starting with her own birthday concert, she made her debut as a singer-songwriter as REI. Focused on making new songs and holding concerts, and has also expanded her activities as a model and actress.
In 2014, she joined the music production: supermoon Inc. She changed her stage name to her real name, Rei Yokoi, and started anew. She expanded her career beyond just producing original songs: creating theme songs for companies and product advertisements, appearing in commercials, and more.

In 2015, she left supermoon Inc. and has put her energy into performing live, which is where she started. The first music video “Iezujimai (Wish I could have said)” was also created this year.
In 2016, she tried her hand at stage music. She wrote six songs for Megumi Oishi’s play “Sun Shower” and performed them live on stage. She also went on her second “All of 0” live tour, but was forced to take a break due to her health condition.
In 2018, she celebrated her 10th anniversary and brought her active music activities to an end.

In 2019, she moved to Canada in search of personal growth and change, and has spent her time experiencing overseas music and culture.
Since 2022, she has held regular concerts at Rakuya in Nakameguro, where her home stage is, whenever she visits Japan.
